Bukhoor Al Saqr – Suyoofi (سيوفي)

Sold out. Thank you to everyone who ordered! More coming soon. Follow @daralsaqr to hear first.

Suyoofi comes from the Arabic saif, meaning sword. It's the traditional Gulf name for agarwood (oud) cut into long, slender, sword-like pieces, just like these. Place a small piece on the charcoal, or break a longer sliver in two, and let the warm, woody smoke settle into the room, your clothes and your hair.

Each box holds 7–10g of bukhoor and comes with a ¼ tola bottle of dehn oud, included in the price.

The box
Presented in a polished dark-wood box with a gold-tone clasp and soft cream lining. It's ready to give as a gift, and it's worth keeping on display long after the bukhoor is gone.

Dehn Oud included (¼ tola)
Bukhoor scents the room, and dehn oud scents you. Every order comes with a ¼ tola (approx. 3ml) bottle of oud oil, so you have the complete set. Dab a little on your wrists or neck, then pass through the bukhoor smoke. That's how scent is layered in the Gulf: oil first, then smoke, so it lasts all day. Each oud is chosen at random from our selection, so every bottle is a little surprise.

What is bukhoor?
Bukhoor means scenting your home, and yourself, with fragrant smoke. It's a tradition across the Gulf and Arabia. Agarwood, known as oud, is the most treasured of all. It's burned to welcome guests, before gatherings, on Fridays and at Eid. Clothes, scarves and hair are passed through the smoke so the scent stays with you all day.

How to use
Light a charcoal disc in your mubkhar and let it burn until it turns grey with ash. Place one or two pieces on top and let the smoke rise. Pass your clothes, scarf or hair over it, or leave it to scent the room. Never leave burning bukhoor unattended.
